John Wall Top 10 Pre-NBA Plays

This actually doesn’t include any plays from his one year in college which makes it that much more impressive. John Wall was selected as the #1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards.

Hopefully he doesn’t make the rookie mistake of bringing firearms into the locker room.

NBA Top Ten Plays for the Weekend

There is too much nastiness scattered among these videos for me not to post them.

Check the rest of them after the jump.

NBA Top 10 Preseason Plays

That Shannon Brown dunk still has me cringing.

I’m thinking Boston vs. L.A. in the 2010 Finals.

Blake Griffin is a Beast

I can’t tell you how excited I am now that I can watch basketball instead of College Football and Baseball.

NBA Top 100 Dunks 2008-2009: 100-70

Another video to help the hoop-a-holics like me get through the rest of the year. I completely forgot about some of these dunks. I also hadn’t seen a good amount of them either. I’m thinking NBA League Pass in 2010???

I’ll toss up the rest of the videos over the next week or so.

Top 10 Dunks of 2009

Videos like this are the only thing getting me through the off-season. The #10 and #9 dunks should have been much higher and there is no way in hell any clip of Tracy McGrady should ever be included in a Top 10 list.

Location of all NBA Shots ’07-’08

Jason R. Bailey built this Processing visualization that tracks the position of all the shots from the NBA’s 2007-2008 season. I would have thought a lot more shots came from the top of the key.

Shattering Backboards + Ice Cube Rapping = Killer Video

One of my major complaints with YouTube sports compilation videos is the music. I normally mute any sports/highlight/hit/home run/blooper video because the music makes me want to take my own life. I think the worst are soccer videos because those European twats have the worst taste in music of anyone in the world.

Anyways, ths video combines some of the best backboard shattering dunks of all time with an Ice Cube soundtrack. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Columbus to Host 2010 McDonald’s All-American Basketball Game

Today McDonalds announced that Columbus, Ohio will host the 2010 McDonald’s All American Games. The Games will be played on March 31, 2010 at Value City Arena, home of The Ohio State University basketball teams.

Former McDonald’s All-American MVPs include Shaquille O’Neal, Shawn Bradley (haha), Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Kevin Durant, and Michael Beasley. I will MOST DEFINITELY be in attendance. Almost every player featured in the All-American game goes on to have successful college and NBA careers. You won’t get many chances in your lifetime to see this much young talent together in one place.

Below is a video of highlights from the 2008 All-American game. It’s almost like an And 1 Mixtape but with 17 and 18 year olds. The dude with the flat top dominating most of these highlights is Brandon Jennings. Look for big things from him in the future.

Thanks to The Columbus Underground for the heads up.

It’s Almost Christmas…

Someone PLEASE get me these moon boots so I can finally dunk on fools.

Top Five Backboard Breaking Dunks of All-Time (Video)

Here is my own personal breakdown of the Top Five backboard breaking dunks of all time.

#1 – Michael Jordan in Spain – Many people have never seen this clip. It’s from a Nike sponsored exhibition game in Italy in 1986 (hence the poor quality and mid-thigh shorts). The clip wasn’t released until earlier this year and somehow it still hasn’t blown up. I know this is pre-breakaway rims… but it’s Jordan!

#2 – Shaquille O’Neal in NBA – I remember watching this highlight with my dad and freaking out. First guy to actually rip down the entire hoop. (BONUS CLIP: Shaq breaks backboard in his pre-draft combine aka PRACTICE)

#3 – Darryl Dawkins in NBA – I really think he has the most explosive/powerful dunks of anyone on this list. He didn’t even have to hang on the rim to break it! My vote for best two-handed tomahawk dunks ever. Some might put him at #1 but remember this was before breakaway rims were used.

#4 – Jerome Lane in college – Former NBA player Jerome Lane drops one of the nastiest dunks ever… and happens to posterize a dude and break the backboard in the process. Transition dunks always make for the most exciting plays in basketball.

#5 – Darvin Ham in college – This dunk is from his college days when he played for Texas Tech. He is currently in the NBA development league.
