Jason Jones talks to a sports entrepreneur who wants to start an all-white basketball league. Dan “Moose” Lewis plans to take basketball back to the fundamental roots from which it came. I kind of wish that black dude would have stomped his face in when he accused him of stealing a white dude’s whistle.

That looks really, really painful. That’s the type of freak accident that ruins careers. That little nerd was setting himself up to get all sorts of girls in high school, but now he’ll end up in doing school plays and staying up all night playing Magic the Gathering with his pet snake.

Phi Slama Jama
Phi Slama Jama, a dunking fraternity, was coined by former Houston Post sportswriter Thomas Bonk in a 1983 article describing The Cougars’ explosive, fast-breaking style of play that emphasized athleticism over fundamental skills.
The “above the rim” Houston squad included greats like Hakeem “Dream” Olajuwon, Benny “Bomber from Bernice” Anders, Clyde “Glide” Drexler, Larry “Mr. Mean” Micheaux & Michael “Silent Assassin” Young.

March Madness: You Already Know!
My buddy Paul and I were talking last week about America’s fascination with college sports. Other countries don’t have the college sports experience we have here in the States. They generally only care about futbol, cricket, and techno music. College football might draw the biggest crowds, but the men’s college basketball tournament is hands down the greatest sporting event in the country. Argue all you want, but nothing compares to the excitement and energy of March Madness.
This year’s tournament is shaping up nicely. The Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked #6 in the country and have a chance to grab a #1 tourney seed if they win the Big Ten Tournament next week. Led by Big Ten player of the Year and National Player of the Year candidate Evan Turner (pictured above; missed 6 games with a BROKEN BACK), The Bucks hope to make a deep run in the tournament. Coach Thad Matta took The Bucks to the National Championship game in 2007, but lost to Florida 84-75. Hopefully this year they can come back to Columbus with a national title.
Another star for the Buckeyes is senior bench-warmer Mark Titus. He runs a blog called Club Trillion which gives his “life views from the end of the bench.” The blog was featured on Bill Simmons’ podcast and blew up over night with over 2.5 million hits in 18 months. Titus continues to gain more readers with his comedy and unique perspective. Club Trillion teamed up with Homage Clothing to produce the famous Club Trill shirts that over 2,000 students wore at last week’s senior game. The Bucks will have to get through some tough competition if they want the Championship. Syracuse, Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas are the teams to beat. Syracuse is playing extremely well and Duke is loaded just like they have been for the past 10 years. Kansas, led by senior guard Sherron Collins, will almost definitely make a Final Four run.
Kentucky’s star freshman John Wall is probably the biggest name in college basketball. If the NBA didn’t require players to spend a year playing college ball, Wall would have been a first round draft pick out of high school. Kentucky lost a few games but they are poised to make a deep tournament run. John Wall is probably the most athletic guard in the country and his highlight mix explains why.

Hands down. This reminds me of when I play with my little cousins. I get up as high as possible and slam that ball 20 feet and scream like I’m Kevin Garnett. I’m going to start calling that a Code Red.
