White Rapper Wednesdays

For the title’s sake we’ll pretend I posted this yesterday.

The white rapper has come a long way in the past 30 years. The Beastie Boys rocked it in the 80’s-90’s, Eminem held down the 2000’s, now who’s next? We’ve got Asher Roth, Yelawolf (my personal favorite), and Mac Miller.

What are your thoughts? Definitely feeling the old school beat, but I gotta admit, Mac Miller kind of looks like Sid from Toy Story.

Slug should have been mentioned in the list but he’s so low-key I completely forgot. Not really sure about all the others, might have to do some research.

    this kid sucks.
the beat is good, but listen to what he is saying.. its crap, mostly all of rap today, the lyrics are pretty crappy, and this guy and asher roth have the dubest lyrics, as opposed to eminem, who had great lyrics to his equally great beats.
also, the modern white rappers (this kid and asher roth, at leat) seem to be brought up my pretty well off families, which make the lyrics to their songs less meaningful than such a rapper as Eminem was, who (not growing up so luckily) used his lyrics to portray his deepest and most intense emotions.

so, ya beat is good, but the lyrics (rap) must be better for a rap song to really be defined as really great quality, imo

Eminem is nothing anymore. Its not cool or good to be a gangster in rap anymore. Most people wanna a lot of money and a good time. So why not make music about? Mac over ALLL!!

then again, rap has evolved, and with this, so has the popular public, their tastes, and their listening experiences/pleasures

Either Asher Roth or Macklemore. Both are the best lyrically
