But for real, I can’t wait to start bringing my kids to soccer/basketball/swimming/baseball practice. Watching skinny Steve Jr. run down the court and blow wide open layups will be the highlight of my life.
NASA, short for “North America South America,” is a music collaboration project assembled by Squeak E. Clean (aka Sam Spiegel, brother of film director Spike Jonze) and DJ Zegon (Ze Gonzales, professional skateboarder).
The music video was created by Montreal-based Fluorescent Hill.
I was always grossed out when people had milk in a pitcher in the fridge, but I might make an exception for this. I think it looks hilarious and I think kids would get a kick out of it, and at $22 it doesn’t break the bank.
Volcano Choir is an assembly of Wisconsinites Jon Mueller, Chris Rosenau, Jim Schoenecker, Daniel Spack, Justin Vernon, and Thomas Wincek. You might find these old friends also frequenting records and stages under different monikers, Collections of Colonies of Bees and Bon Iver. The collaboration predates the meteoric rise of Justin Vernon’s Bon Iver project, with original songwriting dating back to the summer of 2005, right around the time the Bees first toured with Vernon’s previous band DeYarmond Edison. Unmap is the first album from Volcano Choir.
You think the white dude at the beginning of this video can still get down like that? How tight would that be? Some old white dude gets sauced up at a company party and then BAM the moves come out of nowhere.
Be sure to watch the first ever “gay worm” at the 1:00 mark.
In celebration of the greatest athletic achievement by a man on a psychedelic journey, No Mas and artist James Blagden proudly present the animated tale of Dock Ellis’ legendary LSD no-hitter. In the past few years weve heard all too much about performance enhancing drugs from greenies to tetrahydrogestrinone, and not enough about performance inhibiting drugs. If our evaluation of the records of athletes like Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, Marion Jones, and Barry Bonds needs to be revised downwards with an asterisk, we submit that that Dock Ellis record deserves a giant exclamation point. Of the 263 no-hitters ever thrown in the Big Leagues, we can only guess how many were aided by steroids, but we can say without question that only one was ever thrown on acid.
Sadly, the great Dock Ellis died last December at 63. A year before, radio producers Donnell Alexander and Neille Ilel, had recorded an interview with Ellis in which the former Pirate right hander gave a moment by moment account of June 12, 1970, the day he no-hit the San Diego Padres. Alexander and Ilels original four minute piece appeared March 29, 2008 on NPRs Weekend America. When we stumbled across that piece this past June, Blagden and Isenberg were inspired to create a short animated film around the original audio.
I’m not sure how many of you are fans of the Irish band The Frames, but… Back in 2005 their lead singer Glen Hansard was in Prague working with Marketa Irglova on a score for the film Beauty In Trouble. They ended up recording some tunes and released a self titled album, The Swell Season, in 06′. It’s been a couple of years and The Swell Season has released another album titled Strict Joy. I’ve been listening to it on and off for the past few weeks and it’s really growing on me. Their voices are amazing, it’s a relaxing and lyrically powerful album.
You are driving a huge red fire truck and you see a granny approaching on her bike. Do you slow down to let her pass? No. Obviously the only move is to blow through the intersection leaving granny to crumble to the pavement.
Google always find a way to be there at the right time.
For the past few weeks I’ve been spending a lot of time attempting to educate myself on the Internet. I’ve Watched numerous video from TED, read countless articles about the health care issues that our country is facing, etc., but I always end up watching a video of someone getting broke off on YouTube.
