Better Than Ice Cream, Vol. 42 by Wes Keyes

Ok, After a week off, everything is starting to get back to normal. Steve is now a married man, so don’t be surprised to see The Grip start falling apart. I don’t think they get broadband in Dublin, only NetZero…
The rest of the week I’m going to post a bunch of different stuff and try to get some good albums out there. I’ve been listening to this band for a while and playing this album over and over. Baltimore’s Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack make up the duo Wye Oak. They released their second full length album titled The Knot back in July. Their first album titled If Children was released in spring of 2008. If Children is a good album but The Knot really steps it up. A couple of tracks from The Knot that really stand out are “For Prayer” with it’s soft vocals and contrasting outbursts with what I’m assuming is a lap slide and “Mary Is Mary” with it’s lyrics and dark guitar riffs that draw you in. They’re on tour in Europe with The Dodos at the moment but return to the US and continue the tour with Blitzen Trapper. One of these US shows just so happens to be at Skully’s on Oct 13, I can’t wait…
