The Craziest Landlord Ever
During the 3-year stretch of the legendary Maynard house, we dealt with a landlord/slumlord named Terry. He was an alcoholic and a P.O.S. who constantly lied and never fixed anything. It actually worked out well because we broke pretty much everything, and we either fixed it ourselves or let it be. It was a win/win for both parties.
Even though he was a shitbag he was pretty easy to deal with. Not everyone is as lucky. A guy named “Gabe” started a blog about his batshit crazy landlord, Gary. He only has about 20 posts so far but they are hilarious and worth checking out if you’ve got some time to kill. Here is his explanation for the blog:
“I am making this site to chronicle the craziest living situation I have ever taken part in. In the month that I subletted a room in this house in St. Charles (a suburb of Chicago), the police have come to the house 5 times, my landlord has been handcuffed twice, and one roommate has been hospitalized. The focus is on my crazy landlord, Gary. Gary is a 63 year old, currently unemployed, overweight, homeowner who enjoys a frequent alcoholic beverage and cigarette. I believe he had bought this house with the intention of selling it for a quick profit. This did not work out, and last I’ve heard the house is going under foreclosure in September.”

Envelope’s Wu-Tang Food Art STOLEN FROM WEED STEELER BLOG
Columbus rapper Envelope has a unique hobby/skill that involves food and the legendary rap crew The Wu-Tang Clan. I grabbed these pictures off Facebook without his permission so hopefully he doesn’t mind or write a diss track about me.
I’m a little iffy about meatloaf in general, but that pizza looks damn tasty.

Guerrilla Swimming Pools
A group called Macro/Sea is taking used construction dumpsters and lining them to create swimming pools. It’s throwing pool parties at undisclosed locations in Brooklyn (I think what they’re doing may technically be illegal). One of the people involved is skateboarding legend Jocko Weyland. The current dumpster pools are phase one in a more ambitious plan to reclaim disused strip malls.
Columbus has a number of Guerrilla Swimming Pools, most notably the pool located at Grimer’s Adult Recreational Facilities. This illegal operation has been running for the past 3 Summers and they show no sign of slowing down.

A journey back in time to Los Angeles area shopping malls circa 1990. It’s awesome to see what people were rockin’ back in the day. I feel like the 1990 wasn’t that far away, but it’s been almost 20 years!!!
Falcoa Futsal Madness
Alessandro Rosa Vieira, known as Falcão, is a Brazilian football and futsal player. Futsal is a form on indoor soccer but it’s 4 vs. 4 and the goals and field are much smaller. The game showcases players footskills and allows players to showoff quite a bit. Falcão is one of the most famous Futsal players in the world and you can see why from this video. Mad footskills.
SOUR ‘日々の音色 (Hibi no neiro)’
This music video was shot for Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro’ (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album ‘Water Flavor EP’. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam. The amount of time, planning, and organization that went in to this video is baffling. Does this sound like a poppy Sigur Ros to anyone else???

So you may remember the video I posted where the kid freaks out when his mom threatens to cancel his World of Warcraft account. I figured the video was fake but there are multiple videos of this kid flipping out. Definitely worth watching if you’re bored.

I only watched about 10 minutes of this video but it’s pretty rowdy. That scene where the guy smashes into/through the guy carrying the glass window is crazy. I miss living at Maynard because I used to see all the good videos when they came out. I haven’t seen a good video in years.

Many of the clips in this compilation will be immediately recognizable to crusty veterans of the Internet. My personal favorite is the weather anchor at 2:50 who sees a cockroach. Classic.

Rap in 30 Different Languages
Before now I’d probably only heard rap in about 5 or 6 different languages. I kind of wish I would have kept it that way because some of the songs in this video sound HORRIBLE. Regardless it’s pretty cool to see how far rap has come and how much it has influenced the rest of the world.

If you like hippies and you like skateboarding, this clip is for you. It’s around 3 years old but he’s got mad style and it’s fun to watch even if you aren’t into skating. I wish more athletes would dress like they were from the 70′s. Imagine how tight the NBA would be if everyone looked like Bill Walton and Dr. J.

Today I walked up to my front door and saw a note laying underneath my mailbox. The note read:
“Steve – I saw your pedals were a little beat up. Thanks for riding them. Here’s another pair. – Steven”
Under the note was a box with a brand new set of pedals for my bike. The ones I had on my bike are pretty beat up and spray painted white, so I was super pumped when I opened the box. Thanks, Steven, for the pedals. That was an incredibly nice gesture.

A lot of people, including Kareem, were out of town this weekend so no one knew what to expect. We kicked it at Shawn and Martin’s until around midnight (all the stories you heard may or may not be true) and then headed to Karma. There were probably more people there than at the Cam’ron show.

Joey Chestnut chomped down a record 68 hot dogs, capturing his third straight July Fourth hot-dog eating contest at Coney Island, an annual showcase for flamboyant hot dogging contestants eager to show they really are what they eat.
Chestnut of San Jose, Calif., hoisted the American flag and then stood proudly like an Olympic athlete as “The Star-Spangled Banner” played following his 68 to 64½ dog victory over his archrival, six-time titleholder Takeru Kobayashi.
As soon as he knew he had won, he shot his right fist into the air, his mouth still bulging while he chewed the last of his wieners at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Sears Tower – “The Ledge”
Columbus’ own Andy Cihla took a weekend trip to Chicago and took some photos of the new ledge viewing area on top of the Sears Tower. I was reading about this a few weeks ago and thinking about how weird it would be standing up that high looking straight down… Scary stuff. It’s only been open for a few days so Andy is probably one of the first people from Columbus to have a panic attack 1450 feet in the air.
In March 2009 London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings, Ltd., agreed to lease a large portion of the building and as part of the agreement obtained the building’s naming rights. In summer 2009 the building will be renamed Willis Tower.
