BRICKS

If you were at the last Get Right, you might remember big Rdot diddy boppin’ to this one. I slept on it for a while but hearing it again made me remember how hard it bumps.
Oops.
I somehow deleted all the “Friends & Family” Links from my blogroll. I’m in the process of putting them back, but I can’t remember who was in there. Hit me up to remind me.

HUGE Michael Jackson Dance Tribute in Stockholm
More than 300 dancers met one afternoon at 3:30, got informed, and then learned the choreography in 30 minutes. Less then 1 hour later they performed it to a huge crown in Stockholm. Later that evening they performed it in the middle of an intersection.
Light Projection Art Creates Optical Illusions
I would love to see something like this done in Columbus. I’ve seen some similar things done at Skylab but nothing this complicated or intricate. Couldn’t find much info about this video, leave a comment if you know anything. Visual artists Apparati Effimeri just completed and showed a pixel mapping work called Tetragram for Enlargement all over the side of a castle-like building in Italy somewhere.
Thanks to AC for the info!
Another Usain Bolt Thrashing
Usain Bolt breaks the meet record with a 19.59 in -0.9 m/s wind. He demolishes the entire field. Still amazed every time I see him run.
The World’s Fastest _________
If you once did something really fast, you might be in this video. Probably not, but you might be. Shooting a gun, undressing, making a pizza, and other completely useless skills. I mean come on, it’s Friday. There is nothing good on the Internet on a Friday.

Better Than Ice Cream, Vol. 35 by Wes Keyes

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends either here in the Bus or at Rothbury (or anywhere for that matter). Speaking of summer festivals, the 8th Annual Forcastle Festival is taking place in Louisville KY this weekend. There are so many music fests every summer, and I feel as if they’re only getting better each year. Below is a sampling of a few bands that will be playing this weekend. I’m jealous of any of you lucky enough to go…
Annuals – This Raliegh NC sixtet released their sophomore album Such Fun, which has a sunny indie pop sound, last fall. Annuals have received much attention from music mags and blogs, and have made an appearance on Conan.
Maps & Atlases – Chicago group formed in 04′ and have released two EP’s and an LP. The most recent being You And Me And The Mountain. If you can’t see them this weekend in Louisville, dont miss their C-Bus show with Princeton and RA RA RIOT in Sep.
Man Man – Phily’s experimental group has been labeled viking-vaudville and gypsy jazz. They gained notoriety when opening for Modest Mouse in ’07. They put on a great show with costumes and a different sound. I couldnt get hold of an album so check out their MySpace. Or, you can head to The Summit tomorrow night July 10 and see them before the head down south.
Gringo Star – Atlanta group has been on tour promoting their their debut album Y’ALL. “This Atlanta, Georgia foursome add layers of rural lilt to their Brit-ish pop, garagey grit to others, while sneaking out slight-psych guitar blasts and gang yalps when least expected. If not the wheel rebooted, their self-titled full-length on My Anxious Mouth is stunningly seasoned for a debut.” CMJ.com
Gringo Star – Star Up and Down
Also, bands that I know you’ve heard of that will be playing Forecastle include: Avett Brothers, Black Crowes, The Black Keys, Dead Confederate and The Whigs.
♫ Big Sean & Mike Posner – Smoke & Drive ♫

Mike Posner (left) and Big Sean (right) are two up-and-coming artists. They are independent, grinding it out, and using the internet to reach fans all across the country. Whatever they are doing, they’re doing it right. Many people have never heard either of the names, but these two are rocking shows all across the country to huge crowds that know every word to their songs. They both have mixtapes (Big Sean’s /// Mike Posner’s) that led to their surprising popularity.
The track Smoke & Drive features both artists (Posner on the hook) and has been bumping on my iPod for the past 2 weeks. The video is the same track from a recent show. Listen to how many people are singing along to the song (which, to emphasize, is a mixtape track).

Walt Disney and Salvador Dalí’s Destino Film
Here is Destino, the collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dalí. Production began in 1945 and the film didn’t premier until 2003. Apparently, it will finally see an official home DVD release in 2010 along with a documentary about the two artists’ history together.
Lebron Got Dunked On; Nike Confiscates Video Footage

On Monday night at the Nike LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron, Ohio, NBA star Lebron James was dunked on huge by Xavier’s Jordan Crawford with a vicious two-hander. Unfortunately you won’t be seeing the replay of the dunk anytime soon. According to CBS Sports who was in attendance and filming the game, the Nike officials upon convening with Lebron after the play confiscated all of the cameramen’s tapes from their cameras. Here is what CBSSports.com had to say about it:
Turns out, there were at least two cameras rolling Monday night when Crawford dunked on James during a pick-up game here at the LeBron James Skills Academy. It was a two-handed jam, the kind that would’ve circulated quickly on YouTube. But Nike officials eliminated that possibility shortly after the dunk happened by allegedly confiscating tapes from various cameramen.
Freelance photographer Ryan Miller was one of the cameramen shooting the game.
He told CBSSports.com that Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt took his tape.
“He just said, ‘We have to take your tape,’” Miller said. “They took it from other guys, too.”
Worth noting is that there is no policy against filming at the LeBron James Skills Academy, and Miller said he had been filming all day without incident. Nobody ever told him to stop. Nobody ever said there was a problem … until after Crawford dunked on James.
“LeBron called Lynn over and told him something,” Miller said. “That’s how I knew his name was Lynn. LeBron said, ‘Hey, Lynn. Come here.’”
Minutes later, Miller said Merritt demanded his tape.
Maybe the footage one day will surface in a Nike commercial about Lebron’s failures, like that Michael Jordan commercial about all of the buzzer beaters he missed. Sort of a ‘you must first fail to learn from your mistakes’ type motivational spot. But until then, we’ll all just have to imaging how sick the dunk must have been to serve it up on King James.
**Update** Fox Sports had a chance to ask Jordan Crawford himself to recount his dunk on Lebron James.

Good Idea or Bad Idea: Taping Explosives to Sledge Hammers
This is just about the stupidest thing I have ever seen, I’m almost speechless. I mean, if a bunch of people started doing this at Comfest, I wouldn’t stop them, but you can be damn sure I wouldn’t join them. Be sure to watch the end of the video, the last guy gets worked.
Kilt ‘em.
It Bleeds When It Rains
The local government in Papakura, New Zealand isn’t screwing around when it comes to road safety. Their new bleeding billboard campaign takes a Red Asphalt approach that they hope will creep out reckless drivers.
Let me be the first to say “mission accomplished.” Kids are creepy anyway, but throw in a system that leeches blood when it rains and you just might scare people into giving up their cars entirely. Not surprisingly, the billboards have been effective. Since they were put in place, there hasn’t been a single fatal accident in the area.
