Vintage Tattoo Photos
Decades ago tattooed men and women would travel with carnival freak shows across the globe; now tattoos are as common as pierced ears. I have the privilege of knowing some of the most talented tattoo artists in Columbus and their work can be seen on bodies all over the city. I will never get a tattoo myself but I will always be a huge admirer of those who do.
These images have inspired tattoo artists for generations. They allow us to witness the progression of tattooing and how the art form has changed over the years.

Cyclist Hit by Corpse Thrown From Speeding Car

A cyclist was knocked out after being hit by a corpse thrown from a speeding car. Student Wu Dan, 16, was riding home when the incident happened. His uncle Yun Tsui said: “A car passed and a package came flying out the door. It had a dead woman inside. My nephew was very upset.” Police believe she was the victim of a car accident and was being dumped by the driver who had hit her in Dongyang, eastern China.
Mike Tyson Documentary
What an animal. You can’t find anyone else who dominated his opponents the way Tyson did. His boxing skills made him a legend in a few short years and his antics outside the ring are some of the most entertaining in sports. The documentary is 1 1/2 hours long but it’s worth every minute.

The Greatest Buzzer Beater of All-Time (That Didn’t Count)
David Girmscheid probably has the most amazing unrehearsed basketball shot of all time. The shot took place between the Pewaukee 7th & 8th grade Longhorns versus Pewaukee 7th & 8th grade Wildcats. Girmscheid launched a desperation buzzer-beating shot and it was disallowed because the shot hit off the top of the backboard, then went into the Rafters, off the heating duct, down a suspension wire and nothing but net. All that and the shot didn’t count but Davids team went on to win the game in overtime.

South Park is Still On Point
The infamous Kanye Clique picture was outrageous enough to get the attention of Trey Parker and Matt stone, the creators of South Park. They did an episode about Kanye that featured a song called “Gay Fish.” You can check out the song over at Propoganda.
Outrageous.

ILVTOFU or I LV TO F U?

Kelly Coffman Lee is a vegetarian in Colorado who applied for a personalized license plate that says “ILVTOFU.” Corniness aside, her plate was originally approved and then later denied because it “could be offensive” if people misinterpreted the meaning. When I first saw it I thought it said “I LV TO FU,” as in Kung-Fu.
Thanks to Scotty for the info.
Modern Day Oregon Trail: The Columbus Trail
One of my home school activities as a child was a included a weekly visit to the downtown library. I checked out books and tapes on my favorite subjects (magic, reptiles, biology, etc.) and I used the computers to play games. Obviously the best game of the 1990′s was Oregon Trail. The game is a little out of date so I figured I would try to recreate the game as it would appear in 2009 with a little touch of Columbus.
***UPDATE*** Paul’s comment inspired me to make a new one.

The Smallest Girl in the World

Kenadie Jourdin-Bromley, known around the world as “The Littlest Angel”, was born in Ontario, Canada, February 13 2003, weighing just 2 lbs 8 oz. At the age of 8 months Kenadie was finally diagnosed with primordial dwarfism, a genetic condition that is believed to affect only about 100 people in the world. Kenadie isn’t expected to grow past about 30 inches or weigh more than 8 pounds.
Trent Reznor of NIN Urges Musicians to Ditch Labels

Trent Reznor is calling for all major arists to ditch their record labels. Reznor believes the labels our completely out of touch with the industry and they are stealing money from the artists.
“One of the biggest wake-up calls of my career was when I saw a record contract. I said, ‘Wait – you sell it for $18.98 and I make 80 cents? And I have to pay you back the money you lent me to make it and then you own it? Who the f**k made that rule? Oh! The record labels made it because artists are dumb and they’ll sign anything’ – like I did. When we found out we’d been released (from their recording contract) it was like, ‘Thank God!’. But 20 minutes later it was, ‘Uh-oh, now what are we going to do?’ It was incredibly liberating, and it was terrifying.”
“Anyone who’s an executive at a record label does not understand what the internet is, how it works, how people use it, how fans and consumers interact – no idea. I’m surprised they know how to use email. They have built a business around selling plastic discs, and nobody wants plastic discs any more. They’re in such a state of denial it’s impossible for them to understand what’s happening.
Better Than Ice Cream, Vol. 18 by Wes K.

Around this time last year, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner teamed up with Miles Kane of the Rascals and James Ford came together as The Last Shadow Puppets. After playing a few shows together and trading songs, the Turner and Kane knew they had to put an album together. They approached Ford who worked on the second Arctic Monkeys album and also plays drums. The Age Of Understatement is dark dreamy story of a female which wasn’t quite known at first, Turner admits: “I didn’t realise it while it was going down but listening after we finished it I realised that it says ‘she’ so many times. It’s all centred around this one girl who is the heartbreaker.” The Strings bring so much depth to the album, and really pull it together as a story instead of random songs, which makes it very easy to listen to this album all the way through in one sit. As usual they’re not playing anywhere close to here, so pick up the album wherever it is you get music, relax in a comfy chair and have a smoke.

Switch // Diplo // Andy Milonakis – Zumbi

It’s amazing what auto-tune can do. This track actually sounds pretty good in my opinion. I think that says more about Diplo and Switch than it does about Andy Milonakis. Either way it’s funny as hell and worth a listen.
Major Lazer (Switch & Diplo) feat. Andy Milonakis – Zumbi
Lil’ Wayne & Young Money – Every Girl
I’m usually not into the bubble gum songs (with the exception of The Dream) but the hook on this is catchy as hell. I heard it for the first time at the Cam’ron show. Time to find the MP3!
Eminem – We Made You (Video)
Eminem is dropping two albums this year. Same with Fiddy Cent (swiped from ADK). I have to admit I was a little excited to see what Eminem would do. This is his second single (assuming Crack a Bottle was his first) and I’m not really feeling this. The video is exactly what you would expect from Eminem but in my opinion the song doesn’t cut it.
Shouts to TSS for the video!
