Get Your Mug On
Today I stumbled on these awesome novelty brass knuckle coffee mugs. Having one of these on your desk would send the right kind of message to all your co-workers. I don’t really drink coffee but I would love to pick these up and add a little character to my mug game at home.
And by the way, they are 14 carat gold and cost $98 each. You can find more info at the A + R store.

Thanks to The Smoking Section for the info.
So Far, Florida is Amazing
Today we arrived in Florida, beginning our week long vacation in Englewood. Our first car ride led us to Walmart, and let me tell you, it was full of surprises. First we stumbled on 5 Liter Mini-Kegs of Coors Light for $4 (14.5 beers). I bought two. Who knows, I might get a little crazy tonight. Afterward Lindsay stopped by a liquor store and was charged $10 for a nice bottle of wine, daiquiri/margarita mix, and a bottle of liquor. The woman working the register was at least 70 years old and told us we both look 16. She looked at Lindsay’s ID and confusingly exclaimed, “BORN IN 2008?!?” Lindsay quickly clarified that she was issued the ID in 2008 but she was born in 1984. The woman quickly bagged up the booze and sent us on our way.
I hope this is a sign of good things to come.

Old Dog Sleep-Runs Into A Wall
This is kind of messed up but it is hilarious.
After he hits the wall and wakes up you can see him go, “WTF.”
THE GRIP IS ON TMZ
The Grip is getting some major exposure today. The folks over at TMZ were kind enough to show The Grip a little link love on their latest post. They linked back to this post I did earlier this week.
Doin’ big things over here. I think it’s about time I make some moves and take this thing to the top (whatever that means).
As Kareem would say, “Holla at a player when you see him in the streets.”

Fly Union – Only One

Looks like Columbus’ own Fly Union is getting some face time on some of the big hip-hop blogs. I’ve never heard this song before and it’s dope so I gotta support the locals. The sample on this one is nice. Real nice.
4085 Square Mile Natural Mirror
The world’s largest salt flat, the Salar de Uyuni in Southwestern Bolivia (near the crest of the Andes, 3,650 meters high), is one of the most exotic place sceneries on earth. There is an estimated 10 billion tons of salt in the flats, 25 times the amount in the Bonneville Salt flats in Utah in the United States.
Looks pretty dope. I bet there are some amazing photos that have been taken there.
Cam’ron – I Used To Get It In Ohio (VIDEO)
It’s Cam’ron week!
Too bad he didn’t shout out The Grip. Thanks to Young Zach for the heads up on the video.
Nike Air Max 1
Originally released as the Air Max 87, the Air Max 1 is one of Nike’s most famous designs.
I’m loving the simple colorway. Hopefully a store in Columbus will get them in stock.

Why Didn’t I Post This Sooner?

Columbus’ 2 favorite rappers? Cam’ron and Gucci Mane. Newest addition to that list? OJ Da Juiceman. He’s playing a show in Columbus in the near future and I get an extra late pass for waiting this long to post this track.

SAT Scores vs. Music You Listen To
Not really sure if I believe this.
Kind of surprised Lil’ Wayne is on the bottom end. I know some smart ass dudes who bump Weezy on the regular.

New Tracks From DJ Moxy

DJ Moxy was kind enough to send me over some new music for Columbus to enjoy. Both of these tracks are original works, no samples from anyone or anywhere else. Be on the lookout for Moxy this Spring because she’s got “a new vibe, a new DJ set up with live instruments, a new DJ Moxy bustin’ the fuck OUT!” Both of these tracks will be on a new mix which will come out the weekend of daylight savings time.
Make sure you catch Moxy at performing at Sweatin’ on May 8th!
This Is Not Photoshopped
This guy was walking around in Vietnam and came across a guy walking a small lizard on a leash. He asked if he could take a picture and the guy immediately pulled the cigarette out of his mouth and placed it in the lizards mouth. I guess he thought it would be funny.
He was right. I bet one hit off that cigarette for that lizard is like me smoking a carton in 10 minutes. PETA would be all over this one if it happened in America.

BMX Bum Head Bonk
This might be the funniest BMX clip of all time. That bum is chillin’, listening to some tuneskies, eating some lays stacks, living the homeless life. Then comes along this twatty BMX kid on a 24lb Fit frame and straight lands on the bums head. Hands down one of my favorite clips of 2009.
Ludacris – Move Bitch (Disco Villians Remix)

Today has been a little hectic so I apologize for the lack of content. I found this on HypeBeast today and I’m sure it’s old but it had me bouncin’ at my desk. I call it ghetto hyphy bmore.

Better Than Ice Cream, Vol. 13 by Wes K.

THE CANADIANS ARE COMING!!! from Newmarket, a northern burb of Toronto. After playing sold out shows in NYC and DC, Tokyo Police Club are making their way to C-Bus. Their latest Elephant Shell is following up their 2006 Ep A Lesson In Crime and 07′s Smith EP. Trust me, there’s a reason they sell out shows. Dave Monks, Josh Hook, Graham Wright and Greg Alsop are Tokyo Police Club. The band formed during their senior year of high school and since they have been touring non-stop, playing Coachella, Bumbershoot, Lollapalooza, as well as the Glastonbury, Reading and Roskilde festivals in Europe. Also making their rounds on the late night circuit they’ve played Letterman twice and Ferguson.
Tix to their MARCH 2 show at THE BASEMENT are only $12, so make sure you check out the show. Are they playing a venue near you? Click HERE to see! Plus, for February and March, the band is touring with Invisible Children Inc. to help raise awareness of the situation in Uganda that the film Invisible Children focused on. Albums as well as some other cool shit can be picked up tokyopoliceclub.com. What did TPC drummer Greg Alsop have for THE GRIP?
THE GRIP: In most cases, which comes first for you guys, the music or the lyrics?
GREG ALSOP: The music, generally. It sometimes takes Dave a while to settle on his lyrics, so the song can take on different meanings from practice to practice while we write it. Sometimes however, a song title comes before anything, like “Citizens of Tomorrow”.
THE GRIP: What makes poutine so good?
GREG ALSOP: I think it’s the fries that really tips it over the edge. The French went almost a hundred years eating just cheese curd melted in beef gravy before someone accidentally spilled it on their friends fries. Voila!
THE GRIP: Do you have a favorite city to play in the states?
GREG ALSOP: I’ve heard good things about Columbus! (Please come see us).
THE GRIP: What do you like to do when not playing music?
GREG ALSOP: We all just got Nintendo DS systems for this next tour, so Mario Kart is going to be our new favourite hobby.
THE GRIP: Where’s a good spot to catch a show in Toronto?
GREG ALSOP: My personal favourite is Sneaky Dee’s. Great room upstairs and great nachos downstairs.

Christian Faur: Crayon Series 1
“Artist Christian Faur understands not only the adult attraction to the ideals of crayons, but has amped them up to create incredible, hand-crafted, crayon-pixellated, eye-defying images that are unlike anything I’ve seen before. Straddling a crossing between sculpture and photography, wax and print, he assembles more than 100,000 hand-cast crayons of his own shades and hues into staggeringly beautiful works of art. Impressionistic, with a hint of trompe l’oeil, the tiny crayon columns of separate colour simultaneously appease the eye and defy it.”
