Quite Possibly The Greatest Movie Clip of All-Time: Hard Ticket to Hawaii – Great Ass
I think the appropriate title for this clip is, “Sup girl, you’ve got a great ass. Yo dude, catch my death frisbee.”
I think someone needs to find this movie and we need to have our first movie night of 2009. This clip is 2:00 of awesomeness and I can only imagine what the rest of the movie is like. I would like to give a special shout out to Ben Fuller because he lives for clips like this.
Rapper of the Week: Niggalas Cage
While doing my daily blog click through I stopped over at The Smoking Section and almost spit a chocolate malt all over my monitors. They have a new Ne-Yo song posted not because it’s a good song but solely to point out the other artist featured on the song: Niggalas Cage.
I’ve heard a lot of horrible rap names in my day but this might take the trophy home for good. I hit up Google and MySpace and couldn’t find a picture of the guy anywhere so you’ll just have to use your imagination. Imagine if he gets a hit single on the radio (which I doubt), how are they going to say his name? Other than YouTube I don’t think your videos are getting play anywhere.
Major Wright LEVELS Manny Johnson
He got laid out right in front of the Florida Gators’ bench. That hit may have been the turning point in the game even though they didn’t pull away until the 4th quarter.
Sweatin’ 01-09-09 Photos
Days after Scotty and Sweatin’ received coverage in the Columbus Alive Sweatin’ the bi-weekly dance party was back at Circus. The article definitely didn’t hurt attendance. It was packed wall to wall at midnight when we arrived. Knave looks like he made some equipment upgrades and put on an amazing set as always.
It looks like good things to come for Sweatin’ in the coming months…

Check the rest of the photos after the jump… (more…)

Attention Fellow Grippers and Grippettes
You may have noticed that the Better Than Ice Cream piece was written by our good friend Wes. He will be writing a weekly post for The Grip for the next few months. Right now he is focusing on music but as his confidence and fan base grow we hope that he will venture into deeper waters. Be sure to leave Wes some feedback!

Scotty Niemet x Sweatin’ Article in Columbus Alive

The Columbus Alive interviewed Columbus’ own Scotty Niemet. He talks about hardcore, Sweatin’, and his fascination with vegans.
***UPDATE***: Still no word on why The Grip wasn’t mentioned as part of Scotty’s rise to fame.

A.P.C. x Nike Sportswear All Court

French fashion label APC and Nike Sportswear have come together in a special spring release as they revisit one of Nike’s classics, the All Court Shoe. With a penchant for high-quality and timeless aesthetics, the All Court makes for a more then suitable candidate as it is seen here with a simple white and blue colorway. The All Court itself dates back to 1975 as a predecessor to the Cross Trainer. Its versatile nature made it a shoe for a range of sports from basketball to tennis and various court sports. However for 2009, we see a number of technological updates take shape including a Spenco quarterlining and a new hard wearing outsole to go alongside the simplicity of a canvas upper. Look for these as well as a white and red colorway to hit retailers soon as one of 2009’s early footwear gems.

Better Than Ice Cream by Wes K.

Alright, for my first post I thought I would give everyone a look at an album I’ve been playing the hell out of. I started listening to the Canadian band ISLANDS since their 06′ debut album titled Return to the Sea. “Swans” is a track I’m particularly fond of. Two years later Islands frontman Nick Thorburn and former guitarist Jim Guthrie have come together as Human Highway.
The album is called Moody Motorcycle after the title track, which seems to be every other critics favorite. No doubt the song is a classic but after giving it a good listening to, I’ve chosen track No.1 titled “The Sound” as my favorite. I’ll never attempt to break down an artists sound, it’s different to every ear… Give it a listen and let me know what you think. Some shows are listed below, so if you’re in the neighborhood check’em out….

Indie-ana Jones

At first I didn’t believe this was PB&J (what?) until they started singing. This is a very different sound for them and I like it. A lot. Enjoy.
