Even More Inspirational

5 06 2008

That last post really reminded me of the Jason McElwain story that aired on ESPN in 2006. Jason was an autistic kid who never made his school’s basketball team. His love of the game was so strong that despite not making the team he decided to be the team manager instead. Three years later, on senior night, the last home game Jason would ever attend, coach Jim Johnson gave him the chance to play his first game. With 4:19 seconds left in the game, coach Johnson put him in. After time expired, Jason was 7 for 13, 6 for 10 from 3-point rage, with 20 points in all. He was the high scorer for the game.

This clip almost brings me to tears every time I watch it. If you’ve never seen the clip, take 5 minutes to watch it.
